All ANA staff are highly trained and qualified professionals or in training at ANA and college. 

 

They are also approachable, caring and supportive of all clients. Combined, ANA Staff have over 200 years of experience in the field of treatment for addiction.

Libby Garnham

Chair

Libby Garnham founded ANA Treatment Centres in 1998 with her late husband, Christopher.  She has steered and cherished the organisation ever since. Libby has numerous qualifications including an MSc in Counselling & Psychotherapy. Libby has led on many ANA developments including the introduction of third stage treatment in 2010, development of ANA WORKS supported Housing and progamme management and review.  She has chaired the FDAP Board and advised numerous organisations and individuals on addiction and recovery. Formerly CEO, now Libby Chairs ANA Treatment Centres and ANA Works. Libby lives near Romsey in Wiltshire and is very active in local life.

Richard Johnson

Chief Executive

Richard joined ANA in 2005 as Business Development Director and was appointed CEO in 2012.  His background was in social inclusion, equality and management development. Richard has a degree in Business Studies and Post Grad Diploma in Addiction Studies.  Since joining ANA, Richard has worked with Libby to relocate and restructure ANA to include Fleming House. He co-founded the treatment loop service for ANA and later the CHOICES group of Rehabs. He also founded ANA WORKS, the supported housing service, with Libby, in 2014.  Richard has served on the Boards of EATA, as Vice Chair, DrugScope as a trustee and CHOICES as Chair. Recently, Richard was invited to join the Board of The Recovery Group UK (RGUK). Richard has also served as Co-Chair of RGUK until 2023 and currently is continuing his work for the sector with The CHOICES group. He lives nearby with his wife and two children.

Karen French

Registered Manager

Karen has been part of the ANA family for 18 years.  She believes that people have the ability to change and has witnessed many people turn their lives around and continue to do so.  She started as a counsellor and then became Head of Counselling and is now the Registered Manager. It is Karen’s job to ensure that the service is delivered in a coordinated and innovative way and that ANA’s standards meet the expectations of The Care Quality Commission.  Karen enjoys working in the addiction field as every day brings new challenges which, in turn, inspire new ideas and helps the programme and staff to evolve and grow. Karen holds the Registered Managers L5 Diploma and a diploma in Counselling.

Graham

Financial Director

Graham has worked for ANA since 2005, having previously had a 20 year career in retail & offshore banking. He is responsible for all financial matters within the company, including invoicing, credit control, purchasing, accounts payable, payroll, cash-flow management and the production of financial management information. In recovery since 2002, Graham is trustworthy, professional and a “little bit ocd”, all perhaps good things when working with numbers.  Born locally in Portsmouth with two adult sons, he enjoys hot yoga, watching live sport and playing an active role as the Equipment Manager for The Solent Devils National Ice Hockey League Team.

James Garnham

Housing & Facilities Manager

James joined ANA in 2015 after a 40 year career working in Financial Services throughout the South and South West of England, which included working with Property related business and Care/Residential homes customers over many years. He works with us on a part time basis both in the acquisition and management of our property portfolio. James manages our volunteer maintenance team and has even been known to get his own hands dirty undertaking repairs and decoration!  His vision for our property and all areas that he has responsibility for is “continual improvement”, the main emphasis being on ensuring that our clients’ stay with us is as comfortable as possible.

Sharon

Admissions Manager

Sharon has worked at ANA for 11 years. She started as a support worker doing night shifts and now manages admissions.  Sharon liaises with external agencies that have referred clients to us, organises assessments and admission dates. She also welcomes and orientates new clients, helps to manage the admissions and support teams and also hosts visitors.  Sharon is also deputy clinical lead, working closely with our doctor, The Clinical Lead. Sharon is a qualified medical administrator and holds a L5 diploma in Health & Social Care. Sharon enjoys gardening and spending time with family when she’s not at ANA.
